Cortesina Fest 5th edition: your short or screenplay, now with international reach

24 March 2026 · 2 min read
DeadlineUntil 17 May 2026
Organised byCortesina Fest

The festival circuit is key for any film project to come to life and reach its audience. Today we turn the spotlight on Cortesina Fest, which opens its fifth edition with an important new development: its definitive leap onto the international stage.

The festival, which pays tribute to the pioneering Helena Cortesina (the first woman to direct a film in Spain), is not just a screening platform but a driving force for emerging and established talent.

If you have work ready, these are the two official ways to take part in 2026:

1. Official Selection: finished short films

The festival is looking to broaden its horizons. If you have finished your short film and want it to travel the world, this is your call.

  • How to enter: entries are handled centrally through the Festhome platform to keep the process transparent and quick.
  • Exception for professionals: if you are a production company, distributor or film school with a catalogue of at least 5 titles, the festival accepts screener links sent directly by email.
  • No limits: this is the place to aim high. You can submit as many works as you think are good enough to compete.

2. Flor de España Award: projects in development

We know that many of the best projects are still beating on the page. This award is designed specifically to support scripts that have not yet gone into production.

  • Requirements: original scripts or literary adaptations of up to 20 pages (cover page included), written in Spanish or Valencian.
  • Feasibility: the jury values not only artistic quality but also how realistic the project is to produce and the author’s voice.
  • Key condition: to be eligible, the project must not have been shot before July 2026.

Key dates and contact

The call is open from 1 March to 17 May 2026. That is a three-month window to put your talent in front of a festival that gains more weight and audience every year.

To send scripts or ask about production company catalogues, the official address is: [email protected]

Got a script tucked away in a drawer or a short fresh out of post-production? It is time to get it out there and let it shine.
