FANTAELX returns to Elche from 12 to 21 November 2026
Ten days of fantasy film at the 14th Elche International Fantasy Film Festival.
This year the festival looks back at the origins of the genre. It celebrates the centenary of The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926), by Lotte Reiniger, the oldest surviving animated feature film. The poster, by Elisa Martínez, revives her cut-out silhouette technique and nods to Méliès, Murnau, Alice Guy-Blaché, Segundo de Chomón and Buñuel ✨
📅 12–21 November 🎞️ Opening on Thursday 12 at 19:00, with Reiniger’s film and live music by Miclono and Los Turanga 📍 Congress Centre, Espai Escènic de l’Escorxador, Odeón cinemas and UMH (Elche) 🎟️ Free activities until full
There will be screenings, previews and short film premieres, so if you are involved in the province’s film scene, it is well worth going. And it is free.
It is organised by the Asociación Unicornio Negro together with CíA and MASSIVA, directed by Fran Mateu. The full programme is on the festival website.
