What happens when the plan changes in the middle of a shoot?

We talk to Ángela Manzano about something the art department deals with all the time: however much planning has been done beforehand, changes and setbacks always crop up on set, forcing you to make creative decisions in real time.

For Ángela, one of the keys is knowing how to react under pressure and, above all, leaning on the team. The art department doesn’t work in isolation: when a problem arises, the solution often means coordinating quickly with colleagues in the department and with the other areas involved.

And this is something we at Alicante Light Film know first-hand.

Ángela was art and costume director on «Tara», a short film produced by Alicante Light Film and Grupo Nirmedia. During the shoot we saw her and the rest of the art team face exactly this kind of situation: changes to interior scenes that meant reacting, reorganising and finding solutions on the fly.
